Leavenworth is the "First City incorporated in the state of Kansas" and Fort Leavenworth is known as the "Post that opened the West" and is the oldest fort in continuous use west of the Mississippi River.
Leavenworth and Fort Leavenworth offer many historical attractions for all ages such as the Parker Carousel Museum, the Carroll Mansion, self-guided walking/driving wayside tours, a Black History Museum, Frontier Army Museum, Buffalo Soldier Monument and city tour trolley rides.
