Cinco de Mayo Across KC!

Kansas Citians love a reason to celebrate, and Cinco de Mayo provides plenty of opportunity! From food and drink specials to events that commemorate Mexican culture and heritage, destinations across KC are rolling out the mariachi bands for a May 5 like none other! Check it out:




Liberty: Since 1985, Margarita’s Amigos Restaurant has become well-known for offering Kansas City excellent food and drinks as well as great happy hour specials. Head to the Liberty location to celebrate Cinco de Mayo on the patio! Happy hour is 3-6 p.m. daily. Check their Facebook page for more about Cinco de Mayo specials or view their menu online.


Leavenworth: Leavenworth is celebrating Cinco De Mayo with Alive After 5, Thursday, May 5, from 5-8 pm in historic downtown Leavenworth. 15+ shops and businesses will be serving up festive food, drinks and fun! Tickets are $15 and are available at the Leavenworth Main Street office or at www.leavenworthmainstreet.com This is such a fun event, however bring your walking shoes as you follow the map to participating businesses all over town.


Bonner Springs: Find authentic, made-from-scratch Mexican cuisine in the heart of downtown Bonner Springs! Las Gordas Mexican Cuisine serves up traditional favorites including Birria Stew, quesabirrias, fajitas, and street tacos. Several tortas to chose from and each bite will bring you right into the heart of Mexico. Pre-order a dozen tamales on Fridays with your choice of chicken, red pork, or jalapeno and cheese. Located at 133 Oak Street in historic downtown Bonner Springs.


Merriam: From homemade pupusas to tamales, burritos, gorditas and more, Anita's Cuisine and El Pulgaracito on Merriam Drive serve up authentic, made-from-scratch Latin-inspired cuisine. Dine in or take out this Cinco de Mayor and everyday in downtown Merriam!


Lenexa: Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at one of Lenexa’s Mexican restaurants: Black Agave Tequila Mexican Cuisine & Bar, El Toro Loco Mexican Bar & Grill, Fronteras Mexican Restaurant and Cantina,


Olathe: Celebrate at Stone Pillar Vineyard & Winery for the 2nd annual taco showdown! Tickets are $17 and includes entry to the winery, three entrees to eat and vote for your favorite, and an entry to win a free wine flight and a pair of concert tickets to a future concert at the winery. Gardner: Many Mexican restaurants celebrate Cinco de Mayo with drink specials and American tacos, but few commemorate the Battle of Puebla with live Mariachi music too! Visit Frontera’s Mexican Restaurant in Gardner, KS to enjoy the festivities with margaritas and Parrilladas Mexicana. Join us for delicious food and excellent service beginning at 5:00pm on May 5th.
