Check out BASK, by artist Blessing Hancock in the courtyard at the Merriam Community Center; this sculpture incorporates words collected from Merriam residents describing their community, and it comes alive with color-changing lighting at night. LEAVENWORTH Creative Blossoming, located at 505 Cherokee St., is a new art store in historic downtown Leavenworth that specializes as a studio/gallery/gift shop with an artistic flare. There are several local artists that display their creative wares and quirky art pieces which are for sale in the gift shop. BONNER SPRINGS Bonner Springs has an active and thriving arts community. The Arts Alliance focuses on both physical art and intellectual art. This month, they are hosting a creative writing discussion for people interested in writing but not sure how to start.
