Exiled: Trail of Terrors – Fridays and Saturdays through October 29 – Bonner Springs, KS

If you’re looking for serious scares, look no further than Exiled: Trail of Terrors. This isn’t your ordinary haunted house…Exiled Trail of Terror is a self-guided half mile hike of horror deep in the dark woods of Bonner Springs. You and your friends must face your worst fears by clawing your way through the evil forest. This adventure is not for the faint of heart. If you’re scared of getting dirty, sweating, or hiking through darkness, Exiled is not for you! Tickets are sold online; all tickets are a timed, fast-pass entry system to minimize wait times. Exiled is open September 30 through October 29 on Friday and Saturday nights.

Halloween Haunt at Worlds of Fun – Thursdays and Fridays in October – Kansas City, MO

Worlds of Fun becomes Worlds of Fright with Halloween Haunt, the Midwest’s largest Halloween event and one of KC’s most fearful fall traditions. Select nights during the September and October, the family-friendly park transforms into one of the scariest destinations in town as the otherworldly Overlord awakens his army of ghouls each evening.

Featuring more than a dozen extreme haunts, 400-plus monsters, spooky shows and chilling thrill rides, the Haunt promises Halloween terror for everyone 14 years old and up.

Fairy Tale Forest – October 21-23 – Liberty, MO

This non-scary Halloween event is sure to delight you and your little ones! Walk through a quarter-mile trail at Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary in Liberty, lit with over 100 jack-o-lanterns. Afterwards, make a cool spooky craft, meet an owl and get a bag of treats. Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance.

Friends of the Frontier Army Museum Present the Ft. Leavenworth Haunted Tour – October 21 and 22 – Leavenworth, KS


Fort Leavenworth is the oldest continuously operated military installation west of the Mississippi River and haunted encounters are common throughout the post, particularly in the historic housing area.


This year’s Haunted Walking Tour lasts approximately 2 hours with 8 stops along the way. Only 20 tickets per time slot will be available and all participants must be age 12 or older. Tours begin at 5:45 p.m. and leave every 15 minutes on Friday, Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 22. The last tour will begin at 8:45 p.m. each evening.

Night of the Living Farm – October 21, 22, 28 and 29 – Overland Park, KS

Wear your Halloween costumes and experience Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead after dark if you dare. Enjoy traditional “spooktacular” fun such as scary and non-scary hayrides, live entertainment including StoneLion Puppets, a superhero obstacle course, dancing with a princess, a scarecrow maze, roasting marshmallows, and many more activities, food, and games.

Halloween Happenings – October 22 – Merriam, KS

Join the spooky fun at Halloween Happenings in Merriam. It's our favorite time of year to get dressed up in funny gear. We'll decorate with spooky things and celebrate Halloween. Grab your favorite costume and come celebrate with us! Spooky fun will include: Midway games, an InstaFunKC photo booth and more! This event is free to attend. Ages 10 and under may participate.

Saturday, Oct. 22 from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Merriam Marketplace, 5740 Merriam Drive.

Enchanted Forest – October 27 – Lenexa, KS

For one night only, Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park is transformed into The Enchanted Forest, where there is something to delight even the smallest of Halloween revelers. You can enjoy performances by puppets, musicians and singers along the trail around Rose’s Pond and fun photos in the photo booth. Stroll the seasonal displays, visit friendly characters and enjoy performances at your leisure. This event is free to attend. Thursday, Oct. 27, 4 to 8 p.m.

Halloween Boo Bash – October 27 – Gardner, KS

Gardner Parks and Recreation will host its 26th Annual Halloween Boo Bash on Thursday, October 27 from 6-8:30 p.m., with a low sensory experience available from 5:30-6 p.m. Join in an evening of ghastly games and rides, spooktacular activities, lots of candy, prizes, a haunted walking trail along the playground and much, much more. This is sure to be one of the biggest and best parties of the year! Little ghosts and goblins can come dressed in your cutest, silliest and homemade costumes. There will be fun and entertainment for all, along with prize drawings throughout the night! Wristbands will be $5 per child at the event - Parents are free and will not need a wristband.

Trick or Treat OFF the Street – October 29 – Olathe, KS Dress in your Halloween costume and experience 1860s fall living history activities at Mahaffie Stagecoach Farm-Stop on October 29, 3-6 p.m. Admission includes a horse drawn hayrack ride, games, crafts, and candy stations sponsored by local businesses. Please park at Olathe North High School to catch the free shuttle to the parking lot near Mahaffie’s historic house.

This event is for all ages. $3/person ages 3 & up, before October 29. $4/person ages 3 & up the day of the event.

Day of the Dead / Día de Muertos on Central Avenue – November 5 - Kansas City, KS

This huge annual event takes place on November 5 at 1120 Central Avenue.
